Earth Ale. Ale from the earth. It’s no more complex than that, really.

Each year, we forage wild ingredients from the glorious countryside and craggy coastlines of the South of England, and infuse them in a natural brewing process to create seasonal limited-batch recipes.

We bring back all things weird and wonderful, from dandelion root and pine sap, to lemon verbena and hogweed. Not everything works of course, but as a Michelin-trained chef, Earth Ale founder - Alex Lewis - has learned to trust his nose and palette. It also explains why our beers can be paired perfectly with food, and why a strong motivation behind our brewing is the dining experience.

You’ll also be pleased to know that our beers are free from artificial chemicals (it wouldn’t make us very ‘earthy’ otherwise would it now…)

After spending a few years as gypsy brewers, collaborating with other breweries and sharing their spaces, we’re particularly excited to have secured our own brew site located inside an old chocolate factory in North London, where experimentation is built into the walls.

We also have a bus. Without an engine, but with 4 wheels, and 10 taps serving Earth Ale as well as some other fine beers to anyone that finds themselves passing by Blue House Yard. Spicy weiss

4.5 abv


Crisp, light, refreshing. Fermented for three weeks to give an aroma of fruit, spice and gooseberries. Mittelfrüh hops, Pilsen and Munich malts combine in creating a wonderful summer beer.

Ingredients: Water, malt, barley, hops, yeast, hogweed, alexanders and coriander seed.

dandy stout

A rich, smoky black stout infused with dandelion root. Roasted coffee and burnt caramel at first taste, followed by bitter dark chocolate. ‘Kent Golding’ hops with the addition of dandelion results in a light, earthy & peppery flavour.

Ingredients: Water, malt, barley, hops, yeast, dandelion root.

Natural, Unfiltered & Unfined

american amber

5.7 abv


Rich, smoked chocolate ending in a malted cookie dough flavour. Cascade and Summit hops pave the way for a subtle spiciness while releasing notes of robust orange, tangerine and grapefruit. Amber in colour with a surprising sweet fruitiness and left to ferment for four weeks to give an added depth.

VERBENA PALE

5.5 abv


A citrus pith, juicy, five hopped refreshing pale ale.

Ingredients: Water, malt, barley, hops, lemon verbena, yeast.
